Take a deep dive into Pâte-de-Verre glass making with artist Alison Lowry. Learn the unique process of creating glass works using ground glass, examining form, colour and adding interest with metal inclusions, reactive glasses and texturing.
Explore the potential of flame-worked Borosilicate glass, drawing concepts and ideas from the movement of the material itself. You will transform glass rods and tubes into components using gravity, centrifugal force, blowing and manipulation with tools and then connect your components into assembled structures.

Discover the traditional skill of painting on glass using vitreous glass paints and specialised brushes. Paint a number of glass samples and a finished piece to practise a range of lining, shading and sgraffito techniques.
Our one day glassblowing course is both an exciting experience day and a great introduction to glassblowing for beginners. Learn the fundamentals of this ancient craft while you make your own glass objects, using hot, molten glass straight from the furnace.
Get creative with glass and explore a range of techniques for manipulating glass in the kiln. You'll experiment with glass fusing, reactive fusing, iridescent fusing and deep fusing. We will also look at relief casting, slumping, drop-out moulds, pot melts and open-faced moulds, creating form and texture in cast glass.
Discover the art of flameworking beads. Our experienced tutor will guide you through the fundamentals of flameworking (lampworking) using a torch. You will work from your own torch to design and make ten or more beads over the day, using a wide selection of colours and processes.
The ideal follow-on course to our one-day or half-day classes. You will learn the fundamental skills of hot glass sculpture to shape a flower and a bird - getting the feel of how to master this magical material, followed by a blown piece like perhaps a tumbler. In the afternoon expand your skills to create a bowl, or plate.
