Masterclass: Print, Stain, Blast & Bond – James Cockerill
Course Outline
Join award-winning artist James Cockerill of HALTGlass for this innovative and hands-on glass course where you'll experience a broad spectrum of processes, all culminating in a stunning finished work. We'll dive straight into making striking and detailed images on glass using multiple techniques such as silk-screen printing with traditional kiln-fired stained glass paints & enamels, painting and printing with silver & copper stains, as well as creating sandblast resists & texturing glass.
We will then explore layering and bonding techniques using UV as well as cold-working processes. The emphasis will be on experimental, intuitive making approaches. No previous glass or print experience is required. All materials, firings, and wooden frames included.
Profile - James Cockerill

James Cockerill was First Prize winner of the prestigious 2019 Stevens Architectural Glass Artist of the Year Award. He is a Fine Art graduate and founder of HALTglass. James combines photography, graphic design and print with traditional and modern stained-glass techniques to create unique works of art. He photographs urban environments, which are reinterpreted through collage. These new landscapes are silk-screened onto hand- made glass, then kiln-fired.
