Wed Oct 8 2025- 10:00 am - Fri Oct 10 2025- 4:30 pm
£895.00Course Outline
Join us for an immersive three-day masterclass with Tabitha Burrill, where we will delve into the fascinating world of vitrigraph murrine and its applications in both fusing and hot shop techniques. Tabitha believes that glass fusers should use their local hot shops more by creating unique elements in their kilns to be used in blown glass projects, crafted by an experienced 'gaffer'. In this course, you will explore the creation of vitrigraph murrine, focusing on intricate designs inspired by Tabitha's 'vortex murrine', as well as landscape lines and stringers.
Next you will use your murrine pieces to create design elements in a fusing kiln, pressing glass to produce delicate components. These elements will be incorporated into a blown vessel, crafted by a 'gaffer' in the hot shop, alongside two additional stunning creations—a fused piece and a 'puck' (hot cast) paperweight. Please note that while Tabitha will not disclose her specific techniques for creating murrine, she will guide you through the vitrigraph process and how to take these elements into a hot shop to design your own beautiful vessels.
