Further Foundation Course in Glass (8 Weeks)
Course Outline
Build confidence, deepen your skills and develop your ideas on our Further Foundation in Glass course. Over eight weeks, you’ll build on your existing glassmaking experience and spend focused time exploring techniques, materials and processes.
Ideal if you are a returner, improver, or have completed our beginner Glass Foundation course. This course gives you the chance to revisit key techniques, try new approaches and develop your own ideas in the studio.
Working in our hot shop and kiln room, you will explore a wide range of glassmaking processes including glassblowing, kiln-forming, fusing, casting and flameworking. With guidance from our experienced tutors, you will build your understanding of materials, tools and techniques through hands-on making, experimentation and practice.
In the hot shop, you will revisit fundamental skills and progress to colour work, bit-work, goblets and sculptural glassblowing. In the kiln room, you will extend your practice through more advanced mould-making, fusing and casting techniques. You will also explore sculptural flameworking using a torch and borosilicate glass.
Perfect if you have some experience with glass and want to deepen your knowledge, build confidence and take your practice further.
This course represents an excellent value as each full day with a limited number of students works out at just £160 a day.
