In the morning\, an introduction to the processes you will use is followed by a discussion with examples of other artists’ work and a component making demonstration. In the afternoon you will work in the hot shop as a group to create coloured components ready for classmates to coldwork the following day. \nDay 2. Neil will demonstrate simple mark-making techniques including engraving\, masking and sandblasting\, as well as cutting and grinding using a flatbed and lathe. The group will discuss working collaboratively as a way of coming up with new ideas. Using supplied components and components made by classmates\, you will put mark-making into practice. Designs will change and respond to how the forms take shape throughout the making process. In the afternoon follow a demonstration of putting components together in preparation for next day and consider using hot torch and glue bits. \nDay 3. Work with the team to realise ideas.
